However, you usually cannot combine this with any other specials or deals they may have running, so you might want to check to see if they have any sales (which can easily be better than 10%)  or bundle deals (which can often get you a free printer, monitor, or memory) that are better.  It's not uncommon to be able to configure the exact same system through different places on a manufacturers web site and have a significant price difference depending on where you started.

For Apple hardware, a student discount is one of the only ways you can get a decent discount on their systems, as they are the sole manufacturer of their equipment.

As stated previously, another place to check with would be your school.  Check their web site, or ask someone from the school if you can get student discounts.  For instance, at The Art Institutes, our main suppliers have set up special web sites for students to get discounts on hardware here or software here.
